Orwell
I started off reading the first sentence of Orwell's writing thinking, how the hell am i going to understand this guy, and after rereading it a couple times I'm still at a loss for what exactly it means. luckily it got easier as I read more of his writing and I even began to agree with what he was saying. his writing is through and well organized, which is part of what makes it so convincing. one part that i agree with was when he said "the word Fascism has now no meaning except in so far as it signifies 'something not desirable.'" this statement really struck me because i realized i didn't exactly know what Fascism meant, all i associated it with was something bad that i didn't want our political system to turn into. I have sense looked it up and still agree that it is something that i don't want to be a part of but now i know why instead of the news just telling me that it is bad. but his overall statement that he is trying to make at this point in his writing is that some words have lost their true meaning throughout time. now in our current age the words are still used but they are used to invoke the feeling that are left over from years ago and not actually for what the word truly means.
