I just finished reading David Wallace's piece on life and work. I respect his take on life and how he feels about it. Every individual has their own beliefs but most people in the world only care about one's own. I would be lying if I said I am not a selfish person. Of course I am. Everybody is at least a little bit selfish in their own way. Why wouldn't you want to be selfish? Getting everything you want and having the world revolve around you would be great. What more could you ask for? I would love to graduate from Champlain and receive a well paying job right out of college but that is easier said than done. After reading this article it would be very nice to expand my awareness as David Wallace put it and have a better outlook on life. Since coming to Champlain I have been having a great time but when it comes to the work load I have been assigned I have been complaining quite a bit. It’s not like the work is even that difficult I am just lazy and I’m sure many other students have it much more challenging than I do. I bitch when I see my Thursdays and I have to go to three classes. That is not even a total of 4 hours of learning time. With that being said I hope to focus and pay attention to my professors and take in what is real and going on in today's world. What I got out of this reading was to stop worrying so much about myself and take into account what others have to say. It’s not good to be narrow minded. Champlain wants its students to graduate with a good background in most fields of study and I think that is a great idea for people to be successful later in life. Life can’t be fun to someone who sees the bad in everything when relating to themself. People need to expand their thinking and find the positives in their experiences throughout their lifetime.
