What We Really Need To Occupy

After reading Taibbi’s article I was able to grasp a better understanding of our current problems and what we need to do as a society to work towards change. The arguments made throughout the article were very valid and interesting. Taibbi starts off the article by talking about the government and how the so-called “two party political system” is really just the same thing. He mentions the upcoming presidential election and how in all reality it is just another four year merry go round that promised change. I agree completely with the argument he makes here.  We need to stop getting caught up in the different political parties, and come together to figure out we specific aspects need to be altered. One aspect is America’s banking system, and how it has evolved into “A huge heartless machine that attaches itself to you at an early age and from which there is no escape”.  I believe that this truly is the United States biggest problem; our banking system needs to be more regulated. Taibbi cleverly suggests that the cops patrolling Occupy should go to the skyscrapers and file cabinets to figure out the real truth of who stole what. We now live in a world where “We see 10 million commercials a day, and everyday is the same life-killing chase for money, money and more money”.  Changes may not drastically happen soon but we can do our job in society and become less focused on materialistic things and our personal wants and focus more on the overall picture.
