I found this report extremely interesting. While I do agree that it is extremely frustrating to get all the annoying phone calls from colleges I don't think the advertising websites warranted such anger. The college world in general is one big money pit. People are always trying to find new ways to get in on the booming business. When I was searching for college I used collegeboard.com. This site helped me choose colleges based on my interests. Collegeboard gave me direct links to the site. If I used Google for my search I can imagine I would have to sift through the bad sites like the other students. While it would suck to make a mistake and sign up at the wrong college I feel as though this mistake is on the shoulders of the student. The student should take some responsibility for not looking into the site more carefully. When a persons name or a families name and number are in the phone book those people will be subjected to endless calls by telemarketers and such. I feel like when a person enters their name and phone online in any situation they are subjecting themselves to the phone calls. While I don’t think that the problem is as big as this article makes it out to be I do agree that its a pain in the ass and should be changed. If the site is completely falsely advertising it should be cut. A site that just misleads a person though is really normal. Every advertisement is trying to convince a person that they need something that they most likely don't. It suck for people who have gotten confused by it but its just a way to make money.
