When it comes to Occupy Wall Street I have always been pretty on the fence about the whole thing. I mean on one side the whole thing feels pretty disorganized in the sense that I feel like the protestors are all trying to fight for too many different needs/purposes. I also can’t help but feel like its not just Wall Street fault for screwing over the economy, I believe that there should be more blame placed on the politicians representing out country. I’m not saying that Wall Street hasn’t faced corruption, of course it has, and white collar crime accounts for most of the money lost in today's society. I can obviously see where these protestors are coming from, I’m going to be a part of the generation that’s going to be dealing with all of this financial bull crap, but I just have a hard time putting my faith solely in the Occupy movement.
There was one thing in the article that really struck me was when Taibbi talked about how America used to made with so many ideas and dreams, I think he worded it as “utopian” and how not so long ago the American people could make themselves be heard, making a difference. It is sad that there are thousands of protestors in our country that just can’t be taken seriously enough to be heard and granted they may all have slightly different views on reforming our fiscal system but they represent the American people. We elect politicians every year to be our representatives for our needs, but if we have so many people protesting for our needs than what are our representatives doing?
Nobody is letting voices be heard and signals are getting overly crossed. The whole Occupy movement is just being talked about in circles and I think something needs to happen to break this cycle. Fighting for change is okay but for right now where is it going?
