Occupy movement

I'll be honest--I was never really that well informed about the Occupy movement. I had no idea what the point of it was. I still don't have a great idea of what it is. My dad had always said that the Occupy movement was people protesting for the sake of protesting. And that's really the part that stuck out to me, as I was reading this article. In particular, the part of the article that stuck out was the paragraph in which Taibbi says, "That, to me, is what Occupy Wall Street is addressing. People don't know exactly what they want, but as one friend of mine put it, they know one thing: FUCK THIS SHIT! We want something different: a different life, with different values, or at least a chance at different values." On the surface, it seems like the protesters are doing exactly what my dad is saying--protesting simply to protest. And in a sense, they are. The protesters know that they want "something different". They want change. But honestly, there has got to be a better way to do so. It seems to me that their efforts would be better put to use in some kind of way in which the actual point of the protests came across. Otherwise, what's the point?
