Opinion on the DFW speech.

First off I want to comment on the way that this piece is written. I've never actually enjoyed reading somebody's words before but the way this was written truly allows me to enjoy reading and look forward to flipping to the next page. This piece made me think more then I expected it to. It rises many questions in my head and allows me to look at things in a completely different perspective. One thing that really stuck out to me was, "Think about it: there is no experience you have had that you are not the absolute centre of." I completely agree with that statement. Almost every word we speak or decision we make is purely based off of how it going to effect that individual person. Thats not meant to be taken in a self centered way either, as the author stated. Its just how our minds think because you are the most famous person you know.
Secondly, I would like to comment on when the author muses on an adults day to day life causing much boredom. I don't want this to be taken the wrong way but I feel as if adults always undermine kids when it comes to who has a more "stressful" or "boring" lifestyle. The author states that us kids don't know what he's talking about until we hit that average adult day to day life. I would like to disagree with that statement. Not so much now in college, but in high school I could relate to what a boring day to day life was. I had to wake up every day to go to the same classes at the same time and then to top it off had to go to work directly after with the same people and the same schedule . I understand why parents are stressed and its shouldn't be a competition of who has more work to do but just because you may think that i don't understand i would like to disagree and say that i can relate to a boring "day to day adult life". The author talks about how when you see a stressed parent in the supermarket that there may be other things going on that were not taking into consideration. Yes that may be true but the way i look at it is that every individual has their own thoughts and maybe someone is considering that, while another isn't. They could be the same age with the same job and the same hobbies but no mind is the same as another.
To conclude there are some things in this piece that I disagree with and some things that i do agree with. But all in all i really enjoyed reading this. It made me think more then usual, along with think about things that i haven't considered before. It was a really enjoyable reading for me.
