On Life and Work

Reading “On Life and Work” really got to me. In school people are told what to think and how to think it. Not just by our teachers but by our classmates. No one really gives you the choice. And when you have your own choice they shot you down and basically say you’re a dumbass. But not everyone is the same. We all believe different things and like Wallace said we all worship something different. But being told what to think we all feel locked up. Like we don’t have a voice to say how we feel. And if we are told how to think then we will never make it in the real world or as Wallace says the “adult life”. Being who you are is what makes you something in life. I know how people can get so caught up in their lives that nothing else seems to matter except them. And yes YOUR whole world might revolve around you but there are other people in YOUR life. Those other people are what keep YOUR life interesting. But everyone has his or her own world and their world does revolve around them. Even if they have kids or a spouse or someone/something else they take care of. You get to be the kind of person that you want to be and no one can tell you otherwise. I really like the part about there being “life BEFORE death.” People go through there day to day life thinking about what went wrong and what bad things had happened. Rarely do you hear about the good things. And that is where everyone is unaware of what is really going on.
