DWF Commencement

When I read the DWF Commencement it made me think about a lot of things. Its hard posting later on because I don't want to copy anyone's thoughts. I agree with many people who posted but I think Inayat was on to something. I think David Foster means more in his commencement though than just respecting others. He also means that we need to respect ourselves as well as others. If you don't respect yourself then there is no way you can get to the point of respecting others. He is trying to teach everyone a life lesson (mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, etc.) I have a friends father who doesn't respect anyone as well as having an alcohol problem he is just very belligerent. This rubbed off onto my friend and he doesn't respect anyone's property or space. Both of them are going down a bad road and its because they don't respect themselves and they don't think there is anyway they can change who they are now so they just stay angry and hostile towards everyone and at themselves. When I read this I thought about how I have done something wrong in the past and I have been upset with myself so I don't respect myself. For the whole day I am just angry and don't give anyone the respect they deserve. Reading this commencement made me think about all of those times that I was rude to people or angry at them for no particular reason. It makes me want to change those times and say sorry to those people because most of them have done many random acts of kindness to me. It is important to take this article to heart because if you don't you could become negligent to the way you are acting and treating others. My dad has told me my whole entire life to "treat others the way you want to be treated" and it always makes sense and its a common curtsey because I know that personally I would not want to be disrespected in any way and it would make anyone feel terrible to not be accepted. David frost makes very many valid points but he just brings them up and doesn't necessarily answer them but that lets the reader think about them him/her selves and makes the reader think about what Frost is saying. Without respect the world would not work correctly you need respect for religions, countries, cultures, people and most importantly yourself and this is what frost is trying to make us realize.
